Future Plans
The National Stone Centre has planning permission in place to build a world-class visitor centre to tell the story of stone and how it underpins society as we know it today. The NSC is working in partnership with The Institute of Quarrying, The Peak District Mining Museum, Peak District Mines Historical Society to create an highly impactful visitor experience relevant to all ages and abilities.
More information about the Institute of Quarrying and our future plans can be found here.
The success of the National Stone Centre is heavily dependent upon volunteers in a number of roles including site maintenance, conservation, supporting events, guiding walks, working in the Rock Shop, and curating exhibitions.
